Cyrus Ernesto (“Ernie”) Zirakzadeh became associate dean for social sciences in 2017, having previously served in the position from 2006-2011. He received his B.A. from the University of Michigan, his master’s degree from Stanford University, and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. He has been a member of UConn’s Department of Political Science for more than thirty years. He has served as director of the University’s Honors Programs and has chaired the University’s Senate Executive Committee three times. He has published research on comparative social movements; political theory and popular art; and experiments with participatory and “small-d” democracy.

On Wednesday, March 21, from 12:30 - 1:30 pm, the Yiddish Tish luncheon discussion group, led by Professor Sebastian Wogenstein, will meet in the Dodd Research Center, room 104.
The Yiddish Tish luncheon discussion group is a small, intimate gathering of members from the community and campus who meet monthly to read and speak Yiddish.
These sessions are open to any and all faculty, staff, students, and community members.
All reading and speaking levels are welcome.
Please bring a bag lunch, and we will provide dessert and drinks!
