It is with great sadness that I share with you the heartbreaking news that Political Science Prof. Garry Clifford passed away yesterday. Many of us have worked closely with Garry for many years and enjoyed his intelligence, warmth and collegiality. His tireless devotion to his students, and his long commitment as Director of Graduate Studies of the Political Science Department have left a long legacy. He will certainly be missed by his many friends and colleagues.

We have no information yet about services or other memorials, but I will pass on to all of you whatever information there is as soon as I receive it.  Garry’s widow, Carol Davidge, has asked that no one reach out to her personally. Our sincerest condolences go out to Carol and her family.

UConn has established a scholarship fund in honor of  Garry’s 27 years of service as Graduate Director in the Political Science department. If  you would like to add a contribution, please make checks payable to: UConn Foundation and be sure to include in the memo line: “Garry Clifford Fund” so that your contribution goes to the right place. Donations are tax deductible. Gifts can also be made via credit card, payroll deduction, or online.

Please mail your check to Becky McEnery, UConn Foundation, 2390 Alumni Dr., Unit 3206, Storrs, CT 06269-3206
