Animal Behavior Podcast Ranks 78 on iTunes

Prof. David B. Miller discovered a great way to combine technology and learning for his psychology courses. His Animal Behavior Podcast Series recently ranked 78 in the top 100 Higher Education Podcasts on Apple's iTunes store.

That series and his General Psychology I Podcasts are in the "Featured" list of Apple's Higher Education Podcasts. These ranks are based on the number of subscriptions to the podcast series.

Anyone is able to subscribe to his discussions for free on the iTunes Music Store.

The podcasts enable psychology students to learn on-the-go by downloading the discussions onto their iPods or MP3 players, making it possible for them to listen at their leisure. Or, they can listen to the broadcasts on any computer with audio software that can be downloaded from the Internet.

Miller is the first faculty member at UConn to use podcast lessons on a regular basis. Each week he overviews topics that were discussed in class and answers students' questions. Miller also uses podcasts to mention interesting facts that he did not have time to bring up in class.

Miller's different learning dynamic has received positive feedback by his psychology students and UConn faculty. In 2005, he was presented the UConn Alumni Association award for Faculty Excellence in Teaching at the Undergraduate Level.
